Eisteddfod by the Bay Secretary

I joined the Mordialloc Eisteddfod Committee in September 1999 after being asked by Robert Dryden to help. February 2002 saw the changing of the position of secretary evolve when Margaret Green and myself split the duties and then when I formally took over the role of General Secretary in 2006.

I have over 20 years experience with administration and customer service and believe that with my passion for music theatre and love of children, the eisteddfod offers the opportunity to combine all passions. I am currently sponsoring the musical theatre sections for all age groups 16 years and under for the Junior Vocal.

I have been the Coordinator of a local community choir, Joyful Strains, for the past 11 years which began its inception at the Namitjira Carols in the Park, Clayton South in 1996 with the City of Kingston Staff choir and evolving into Joyful Strains by January 1998. Currently there are 50 members both from within the City of Kingston staff, but more predominantly, residents from within Kingston. Robert Dryden has been the musical director since May 1998. Joyful Strains members can be found helping out during the choral festival particularly during the running of the primary school division and they delight in performing at the Open Age section.

Eisteddfod by the Bay has been undergoing major changes during the past 12 months and has this year (2009) seen the inception of the website and change of name. It is an exciting year before us as we forge ahead with becoming more accessible through the internet medium.

Wishing everyone well for 2009 and look forward to your company during competition.
