Speech & Drama

Welcome to the Speech and Drama section of Eisteddfod By the Bay. This is a great opportunity to increase your confidence and gain valuable stage experience. We have professional adjudicators that will give you constructive feedback on your performances. It may feel like a daunting task but we can assure you that the friendly atmosphere will soon make your performance fun and memorable.

Handy Hints for Your First Time in an Eisteddfod

Age Groups

The speech and drama section gives you a large choice of age groups so that you are performing with other students the same age or older if you wish.

How to Enter

First of all you need an entry form (PDF 60 KB). Send it to the address of the person who is handling the speech and drama section. Their details are on the Sections & Schedule page and also in the Schedule (PDF 310 KB). Remember the entry fee, either in a cheque, money order or direct deposit.

This might be a good time to read through the Frequently Asked Questions, and if you have an extra question to ask then email (drama@eisteddfodbythebay.com or speech@eisteddfodbythebay.com) the Speech and Drama Coordinator.

Leading Up to the Eisteddfod

A few weeks after the closing date of the speech and drama section, the Coordinator will organise the programme and send you a timetable, or if you have ordered a programme you will receive that also. The timetable will tell you everything you need to know about when and where you will perform.

On the Day

When you enter the venue where the Eisteddfod is being held, you will need to register at the registration table. They will ask you your name and take the photocopy of your pieces
